The Iraqi army began to install Russian anti-tank systems on American-made armored vehicles. Photos of such an international hybrid appeared on the Web the other day.
ATGM "Kornet-E" is actively used by the Iraqi armed forces in battles against terrorists. Thus, 9M133FM-2 missiles with a thermobaric warhead demonstrated good effectiveness against enemy manpower and light armored vehicles.
Unfortunately, in 2015, the militants of the terrorist group ISIS, banned in Russia, managed to seize a number of complexes and missiles for them in the warehouses of the Iraqi army. These trophies were then successfully used against the M1A1M tanks of the government forces of Baghdad.
Currently, US-supplied Humvee armored vehicles equipped with Kornet-E missile systems have been spotted in the Iraqi army. The launchers are mounted on the roof, while the M2 "Browning" heavy machine guns have been dismantled in the rotating turrets.
According to military experts, such field modernization will give ATGM mobility and increase the operator's security. However, this, in fact, homemade product is significantly inferior to the Quartet complex specially created in Russia, which can be installed on various light armored vehicles, including the Humvee.
On one guide, 4 missiles are installed at once, which, being guided by a laser beam, are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 5500 m during the day and 4500 m at night. Armor penetration reaches 1200 mm of armor behind ERA. It is possible to use two missiles at once on one target.
The Russian development was successfully tested by the UAE troops in 2015 during their operation in Yemen.

With a ground clearance of 40 cm, the Humvee can easily compete in cross-country ability with any civilian car, which at least at a stretch could be attributed to a passenger car. Only the Toyota Mega Cruiser, an outstanding rogue, discontinued in 2002, can compete with it.
Fans of the mighty Hummer H1 SUV were very upset w Inkweto Nziza Imiguru 2 Igurishwa Kuri Macye Yose Hamwe hen the model was discontinued in 2006. Then they still did not know that in the next four years the younger "brothers" of the first Hummer - H2 and H3 SUVs will leave the assembly line, and the brand itself will sink into oblivion. But now an interesting proposal has appeared for those who like to mix the dirt. AM General, the manufacturer of the original prototype of the Hammer - the army all-terrain vehicle HMMWV (aka Humvee) - announced the launch of the C-series civilian kit-sets Humvee. The company, by the way, has not sold SUVs to civilians for twelve years.
The HMMWV military vehicle became famous for its phenomenal cross-country ability and endurance. Its refined and much more comfortable version called the Hummer was in great demand in the early years of production (in the 1990s and early 2000s). But gradually the interest of the public faded away, and even the corporation General Motors, which owned the Hummer brand, was pressed by the “greens”, outraged by the high fuel consumption of this monster. The retirement of the off-road colossus, as it turned out, heralded the demise of the entire line of Hummers.
It is the Humvee that is offered, which means more than spartan trim for the four-seater saloon, an awning instead of the usual roof and rag doors. But that's not why HMMWV is appreciated. Indeed, as an option, AM General is ready to install a centralized tire inflation system on the car. A kit kit is an off-road vehicle without a motor and a box, which the buyer must purchase on his own. This is a way around the agreement between AM General and GM, according to which the military-industrial company has the right to release for sale to the public only off-road vehicles other than the H1 model. The Humvee kit kit costs $ 59,000. According to AM General, a typical kit of GM Duramax V8 diesel and Allison transmission will raise the price tag for the miracle car to $ 75,000. Not bad, considering that the Hummer H1 cost $ 140,000 in the US seven years ago.
